My name is Matthew Watts, the founder!
Why did I start Lead Hustler?
Back in 2008, I started a business called Ezy Capital. I worked as a mortgage broker and noticed I was getting more calls from mortgage brokers than actual borrowers.
It seemed I had a knack for solving financial problems for really difficult borrowers (the ones with loan arrears, defaults etc).
Most brokers simply found those type of borrowers too hard to deal with, so they sent me all the alleged bad leads.
In my mind they weren’t bad leads, if you listen, observe, understand, show a bit of empathy and find a solution to their current financial dilemma, and a lender to match.
For me all I could see was a niche in the market (business idea) that needed to be tapped!
Solution
Build a web portal where brokers with difficult borrower loans can list a loan request, and the lenders can view and make bids to fund the borrower’s loan.
I was the meat in the sandwich, the conduit, vet the loan requests the brokers submitted on the website, and get the registered lenders to bid for the loans.
So how did I get from A to B?
Well I started by doing what most did back in 2008, found the cheapest web designer I could, and he built me a website for $2500.
It was okay but nothing like i envisaged.
Anyway one day out of the blue the web guy disappeared, vanished, gone, and he took the website, domain names, google adwords account and everything else with him.
I was so annoyed, but upon reflection I understood I was part of the problem.
I didn’t set boundaries up with this guy,
I had a lack of understanding and accountability, so I didn’t have the skills required, way too reliant on one guy I had never met, my god!
Get To Work
Build the website myself.
So I learnt how to do basic coding over the next three months and built the website myself.
However the functionally of having a mortgage loan auction site running live online required some real hard core functionality, way out of my depth.
So I went searching for a ready made peer to peer lending web portal world wide
While on the journey, I stumbled across a whitepaper about peer to peer money and this new digital way that we could enable transfer of money online without an intermediary.
It was called Bitcoin
So I joined Bitcoin.org and chatted to the guys about all things peer to peer, and about bitcoin.
I was in the chatroom when the first bitcoin was bought, in fact when the Genesis block went live (blockchain) I bought 5000 bitcoins at 5c each (yes $250 worth) which at the time seemed like a lot to pay for some weird digital coin that only about 20 or 30 of us owned worldwide.
As the bitcoin forum grew and crypto then grew with new coins and ICO development, it suddenly took off and went crazy!
Today my bitcoin would be worth millions, had I kept them!
Anyway through bitcojn.org I met a Canadian guy who was trying to sell his peer to peer lending business, as Canada were one of the first to ban peer to peer lending.
I bought the source code for around $10,000 and built a pretty profitable peer to peer lending business out of it.
Anyway, I then proceeded to learn online marketing at a deeper level, studying all I could about google adwords and teaching myself (non reliant on others) to generate leads for my other business interests.
In 2024 I decided to offer my lead generation and website service to the public.
So I started Lead Hustler and my main goal is to help as many business people who could do with some no nonsense help building a successful business partnership together
